Our Story
For centuries the olive, the vine and the wheat have been bathed by the sun of the Mediterranean. Images of bread, oil and wine conjure up a mouth-watering feast of flavours and the time honoured tradition of hospitality envokes a sense of warmth and friendship that is difficult to match anywhere in the world.
There is a tradition back home that if someone comes to your door and asks for a meal you treat them to the VERY best that there is to offer. You see (as Mamma said) you never know when that guest will tell their friends, who tell their friends, who tell their friends and so on…..
Mamma always knew that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, and she always said, “never change a winning recipe”.
Now Michael, (he was Mamma’s favourite), he liked to spend time in the kitchen, tasting, testing, experimenting, and his only wish was that one day he would be able to invite people to his own kitchen to taste the very best that there was to offer. By ensuring that all meals are created using centuries old family techniques of full-flavoured, textured slow cooking and marinating, Michael and his family at Piatto ensure that the tastes and atmosphere of a bygone era are available to any and all guests.
The recipes have been handed down through generations and the warmth and hospitality are reminiscent of an age when hospitality meant that the greeting was warm, the company was great, the food beyond comparison and the atmosphere kept brining you back.
Come and experience Mamma’s favourite’s food.
